Beware of tax refund email scams

Over the past week we have been contacted by a number of clients advising they have received fraudulent emails from the ATO. The emails advise that their ATO refund is due to be issued and request the client click on a link to download the details, below is an example of the current email that is circulating.

The ATO will never send you an email requesting you to confirm, update or disclose confidential details via a non-secure channel such as mail.

If you do receive email correspondence from the ATO you should always verify the source before taking actions. If you receive communication of this nature, do not respond to it. Either delete the correspondence, contact your KSG Account Manager to discuss the contents of the email or alternatively forward the email to ReportEmailFraud@ato.gov.au
